Her intuition is the guideline that reflects Kati Jünger's feelings, experiences and dreams. The design is never planned, it somehow flows from her hands and in the end each mug is a little universe of its own: sometimes sad, sometimes happy, just the way life is.
The ceramic artist Kati Jünger works with surfaces and reliefs. In the interplay of motifs, whose sources she can find everywhere, she reuses them and thus takes them away from transience - at least for this moment. In this way, she succeeds in creating exciting compositions of new narratives from outdated fragments, playing with decorative elements from the 1950s to the 1980s. She places insignia and badges of stands and associations, images and myths in a new context.
Kati Jünger follows the tradition of functionality, because the vessels she makes are meant to be used. Even though she is always on the lookout for new materials such as epoxy resin, glass and metal to combine with ceramics, she does not want to lose the utility value of a vessel.
Kati Künger comes from the great artistic family of the goldsmith, artist and professor Hermann Jünger. After an apprenticeship in ceramics, she studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under Prof. Max Thun. Her work has received many awards and is part of private and public collections internationally.
